Project 4+ Artist Statement

" Emotional Front " Statement:          For this project I wanted to further develop my idea from project 2. This time with more objects and more emotions to capture a sort of store front feeling. I feel as though the bottles are well suited for each bottled emotion. For Sadness it's vessel is large and tall. For Joy it's vessel is small, soft and round.                    Loud emotions like sadness and depressed are almost peaceful when bottled up. I included the following emotions: Joy, Sadness, Love, Lust, Envy, Depressed, and Anger. I wanted to do emotions whose colors most dramatically contrast each other.

Project 4: Process Post 1| 2 | 3

Process Post 1: Created a sort of demo version of my installation to try and get a feel of how I want it set up. I took some perfume bottles and ripped off all the metal pieces , leaving just the bottle. Process Post 2: Almost done painting all additional pieces white. Process Post 3: Finalizing each video to be projected. This one is joy, I'd like to have it someday

Gabriel Orzco is a 56 year old Mexican artist born in Veracruz. He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico, UNAM (1981-1984) and at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid (1986-1987). From 1987 to 1992, he led the Taller de los viernes (Friday Workshop), at his home in Tlalpan, which became a nexus of discussion and artistic production in which Abraham Cruzvillegas, Gabriel Kuri, Dr. Lakra, and Damián Ortega all participated. Orozco gained his reputation in the early 1990s with his exploration of drawing, photography, sculpture and installation.                     An avid traveler, Gabriel Orozco uses the urban landscape and the everyday objects found within it to twist conventional notions of reality and engage the imagination of the viewer.

Project 4| Proposal

For this project I wanted to make a sort of continuation of a previous installation. I wanted create some sort of fantasy-like display with more bottles and other items like books and candles to set the mood. I intend to have sound play during the installation. At first I wanted to incorporate a shelf in this installation, though after some demo testing I decided this would be a better alternative. Materials: projector white acrylic paint old perfume bottles pliers cloth chair laptop roundtable thing books more bottles small bags candles

Project 3+ Artist Statement

" Abandoned " Statement: For this project I wanted to create an installation that looked like it was in a sort of post-apocalyptic setting. I thought it would be interesting to have destruction, things burning down, scattered belongings while nature would start to take back the world after humanity disappears.

Project 3: Process Post 1| 2 | 3

Process Post 1: Finished putting together the videos to be projected. Process Post 2:  Tried to set up my installation. My cat decided to destroy it, I pet her immediately after. Process Post 3: Final editing and adjusting.

Abandoned  In this project I will be projecting in a living room with my sofa (tilted on an angle if possible) and other props and lights , I'm trying to make this give off an almost post apocalyptic vibe. There will be lots of textures and plants (growing from the shadows) to further enhance this piece. Materials : -cloth -flood light -wacom tablet -foam core -chair -projector -curtains
