Project 1 + Artist Statement





Statement:

        My goal for this project was to create something that was fleeting. I Created images that I thought would look visually pleasing, then either crumpled it up or set it on fire. I especially love the visual aspect of fire, If I could I would've had this project completely consist of flames. I only had one chance to record each piece being destroyed. 

            I enjoyed creating things and not going back. As an artist, I usually like to keep anything I create. Some things actually came out pretty nice and it was hard to let go but that was part of the challenge. I included a "glitching" effect to sort of represent the struggle of destroying my art. I threw everything out when I was finished recording and it felt almost liberating.

Made sure to bring my flood light to enhance my installation . Process Post 1: Painted my bottles white, had to repaint it 5 times for it to become opaque. Bought corks then cut and sanded them to the size I wanted.  Process Post 2: Started creating 3 different particle animations using Maya. Had a hard time with this since it looked a lot different when rendered out but still decided to use them. Process Post 3: Rendering the animations with TWO computers because I needed to bring the footage to premiere as soon as I could. Created masks in premiere and later added some royalty free youtube vids of sparkles/ lightning to enhance the effect.

Project 4+ Artist Statement

" Emotional Front " Statement:          For this project I wanted to further develop my idea from project 2. This time with more objects and more emotions to capture a sort of store front feeling. I feel as though the bottles are well suited for each bottled emotion. For Sadness it's vessel is large and tall. For Joy it's vessel is small, soft and round.                    Loud emotions like sadness and depressed are almost peaceful when bottled up. I included the following emotions: Joy, Sadness, Love, Lust, Envy, Depressed, and Anger. I wanted to do emotions whose colors most dramatically contrast each other.

Project 1 | Proposal

  For my first project I am going to be recording myself creating multiple images with different materials and destroying them. The video clips will be short and fleeting. They will be placed in no particular order and while editing I will reverse some footage and cut them in awkward places in order to further confuse the viewers. Perhaps the audio can add an extra needed element to change the viewers perception of time. The idea is to make the viewer feel like an image was created out of nowhere.
